Delhi has a new attraction, both for tourists and locals alike, and both are making good use of it. This is the son et lumiere show at the old fort, Purana Qila, reflecting the romance of Delhi.
The sound and light show is appropriately called ISHQ E DILI, or the romance of Delhi and in one hour it recreates the many rises and falls of the Capital. Using the best of technology, the multimedia effort in a sweep covers the Mahabharat and Indraprastha connections, through the 11th Century reign of Pritiviraj Chauhan, to the Tughlaq, Mughal and the British period, ending with even the mention of the coming of the Delhi Metro in the National Capital Region. The commentary is racy, fast and gives an idea to the viewer at the ramparts of the old fort a fair idea of the history of the city which has seen so many ups and downs.The show at the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism has been mounted by the India Tourism Development Corporation, which has a rich and long experience in this line of entertainment.The Hindi show starts at 7pm daily and the English version begins at 8.30pm. The seating capacity is 500 and already many tourists, both national and international, are heading for the fort to get a high tech history lesson.
