Delta passenger traffic drops 7.5% in December

Delta Air Lines has reported that it carried 12.49 million passengers in December 2009 - down 7.5% compared to the same month in 2008. The Atlanta-based carrier reduced capacity by 8.0% however, leading to a 0.4 point increase in load factor, which averaged at 81.2% for the month. International traffic, measured in revenue passenger miles (RPM), declined 9.3% to 5.65 million.
