Hotels and tourism companies in Dubai say they will not need to announce special promotions or packages to attract visitors after the busy Ramadan holiday season. The Gulf News has reported that the coming months are expected to see little or no drop-off in demand, and several major exhibitions in the city look like ensuring high occupancy rates for hotels.
“The month (October) has started with Eid holidays and (the) leisure segment looks very promising,” said Shujaat Yar, Area Director of Sales and Marketing at Starwood Hotels and Resorts. “Business will continue to grow in the next few weeks as several events and exhibitions create additional demand,” he added.
Likewise, the Golden Tulip Hotel in Al Barsha says that MICE activity will keep rates high for the forthcoming winter season. Occupancy rates at property averaged at 85% during Ramadan, and this is expected to increase. “Because of exhibitions in October, we are already full. It’s a very high season and it will continue like this in the next few months,” the hotel’s Sales Manager, Marcela Bizachi, told the newspaper.
Major events in Dubai during October include the Cityscape Exhibition & Conference for property development and investment, GITEX Technology Week and the Arab Gas & Oil Exhibition.
The exhibitions are expected to be a welcome boost to the city, which has seen a slowdown in the key European visitor market over the summer.
