The largest marina in the Middle East, the Dubai Marina Yacht Club (DMYC) has recently been accredited as a Level 3 Clean Marina by the Marina Industries Association.
The Club is a 5 Gold Anchor accredited marina and is situated in the vibrant residential and leisure area of Dubai.
There are five individual, but linked marinas on location offering more than 550 sheltered berthing spaces along an impressive 3.5km canal, suitable for a variety of yachts up to 60m. All the marinas offer unrivalled access to stylish restaurants and licensed lounges, spas, yacht charters, golf club access and more.
The International Clean Marinas environmental program is administered by the Marina Industries Association (MIA). Level 3 accreditation requires a commitment from participating marinas to environmental best practice. The rigorous process includes a site audit against a 103-point checklist. The audit of key operational areas includes inspections of mechanical activities, boat maintenance and storage, fuelling, facility management, workshop, emergency planning and equipment and boater education. A written report with detailed feedback is provided to the marina.
DMYC’s general manager, Jonathan Hind, said the achievement of Clean Marina accreditation was another important step in demonstrating DMYC’s commitment to environmental best practice. “As a large and multi-faceted marina facility it is essential all components are operating both individually and collectively at the highest level of performance. The Clean Marinas program provides us with specific criteria to assess the environmental performance of our marina operations and complements our environmental policies, plans and operations,” he said.
