Eastern Airways is to switch all its flights at Birmingham Airport from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 from Tuesday 8 February. The move by the UK regional airline coincides with the recent opening of the airport’s new centralised security facility. However, all Eastern Airways passengers will have access to a dedicated fast track security channel to avoid any queues at security search. A prominent new check-in position in Terminal 2 will be available for Eastern Airways passengers checking in for its three times a day weekday service departing from Birmingham to Newcastle. “Terminal 2 is primarily used by airlines flying to domestic and European short haul destinations and it makes sense for our cross country business-focused flights to operate from this terminal,” said Roger Hage, Eastern Airways ground operations manager. “This switch helps reduce the time and distance between check-in and gate and emphasises Eastern Airways commitment to offering a convenient quality airport product to mirror the complimentary in-flight service.”
