Edinburgh Airport is gearing up for a record weekend of passenger movement due to schools finishing for the summer. It is estimated that 130,000 people will travel through the BAA-operated airport this weekend, which replicates continued growth since March bar an ash cloud-hit May. London, Amsterdam, Dublin, Paris and Birmingham have been the most popular destinations at the airport, which has added more than 20 routes in the last year. “It’s great to see the airport so busy and that so many passengers are choosing our airport to travel from,” said Kevin Brown, managing director at Edinburgh Airport. “We’ll be working hard to ensure every passenger has a good experience at Edinburgh at this busy period.” He explained that there was added pressure after the airport was voted Europe’s Best Airport 5 million-10 million passengers at the ACI EUROPE Best Airport Awards. “We’re up to that challenge and look forward to welcoming passengers this weekend,” Brown added.
