Holiday bookings to Egypt have increased thanks to a series of new routes and operator partnerships, according to the Egyptian State Tourist Office (ESTO). ESTO’s Director Khaled Ramy told Travel Daily that the popularity of Sharm el Sheikh has helped boost numbers, as well as easyJet’s new flights to Luxor. In addition, Club Med, On The Go tours, ACE Cultural Tours and Thomson have released new tours, including packages to the White Med on 30 March 2011 (from Thomson). Meanwhile, Ramy said the tourist office’s online training had been popular amongst agents. The training is available at www.gotoegypt.org and consists of three training modules. Agents are then quizzed on the information and will be certified if they answer correctly.
