A company that makes electric tuk tuks has penned a major new deal that will see the environmentally-friendly vehicles rolled out in the US.
The Tuk Tuk Factory, which is based in Amsterdam, has signed a licensing agreement with e-Tuk USA to make the company the exclusive distributor of e-Tuk electric vehicles in the US.
“We are extremely excited about the opportunity to introduce these quality electric, zero-emission vehicles to the US market,” said Michael Fox of e-Tuk USA. “The passion of the Tuk Tuk Factory team to provide high-quality, eco-friendly vehicle options to the market struck the right chord with us. We are thrilled to bring that same passion and product to the US.”
The first three e-Tuks arrived in Denver on 23 April 2014 and e-Tuk USA is in the process of gaining certification from the US Department of Transportation for the vehicles to be driven on US streets.
The company, which says it has seen interest from taxi and tour operators, hotels and other companies, expects to sell at least 500 units in the next few years.
