Elephant sanctuary planned for central Vietnam

An elephant sanctuary is being planned for Vietnam’s central highlands province of Dak Lak, Thanh Nien Daily has reported. The project, which is expected to cost in excess of VND58 billion (US$3.1 million) will include a 200-hectare preservation centre in Yok Don National Park and a veterinarian hospital. According to recent estimates, there are as many as 110 wild elephants currently living in Dak Lak.
