Elephants found dead in Tamil Nadu

Two adult elephants have apparently died from heat exhaustion in Tamil Nadu, following the heat wave that ahs depleted the animals’ water supplies. A 35-year-old bull elephant died in the elephant haven of Thengumarahada, in the Bhavanisagar forest range on Monday evening. Earlier this month, a 50-year-old female elephant was found dead at Kovilur forest area. Elephants need to drink 100-125 litres of water everyday, but Tamil Nadu has been experiencing severe drought conditions in recent weeks, and watering holes are drying up. Source: The Times of India.
