A plane with more than 225 people on board had to make an emergency landing after its tail struck the runway during take-off from Melbourne airport.
According to a BBC report, the Emirates Airbus A340 was forced to circle for 45 minutes, dumping fuel, before touching back down at Melbourne’s Tullamarine airport. Nobody was injured, but the incident reportedly sent smoke into plane’s cabin and left debris on the runway.
A spokesman for Melbourne airport told AFP news agency; “It took off very steeply, the tail touched the end of the runway, and it (the plane) went up, stabilised and came back.”
