Emirates Palace aims for world’s most expensive Christmas tree

Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace hotel has created what is believed to be the world’s most expensively decorated Christmas tree. Bejewelled with precious gems valued at more than US$11milllion, the hotel’s showpiece tree stretches 13 meters high. In a bid to create a new Guinness World Record the hotel management said it wanted to world to know that the Kempinski-managed Emirates Palace knew how to celebrate the festive season in style. Hans Olbertz, the hotel’s general manager, added, “This is another unique event for Emirates Palace and will ensure that the many international guests and visitors we welcome to the hotel and Abu Dhabi at this time of year will be able to be part of this world’s first. It is history in the making.”
