Ethiopian Airlines is set to become a member of the Star Alliance, after the airline group’s Chief Executive Board unanimously approved the African carrier’s application. Following the decision, Ethiopian is now expected to become a Star Alliance member within the next 12 months. The Addis Ababa-based airline will become the third African member of the alliance, joining Egyptair and South African Airways. It will add 24 new African destinations and five new countries (Chad, DR Congo, Djibouti, Mali and Niger) to the Star Alliance network.
