Etihad ratings boost will help future financing

Etihad executives believe a recent decision by export credit agencies in the US and Europe to award it the highest rating is further proof the Abu Dhabi-based airline is on a sound commercial footing and will help it counter accusations from other carriers about government support. The ratings from export credit agencies in Germany, France, Britain and the US will help the airline access credit at reduced rates as it moves towards profitability in 2011 and were used to secure a $US1 billion aircraft-financing programme.
