The European Commission has opened an investigation into the British Airways, American Airlines and Iberia revenue-sharing deal, the BBC has reported.
“It is not a merger investigation and has no specific deadline,” European Union spokesman Jonathan Todd said. He added that the EU-initiated probe will consider if the deal breaches competition rules, and that it did not follow a specific complaint.
Virgin Atlantic has voiced concern about the deal.
