The European Union (EU) is investigating whether the proposed takeover of Brussels Airlines by Germany’s Lufthansa contravenes competition regulations, according to an Associated Press report.
Lufthansa is reportedly seeking to purchase a 45% stake in the Belgian carrier’s holding company for EUR65 million (US$85.8 million). The deal gives Lufthansa the option to take over all of Brussels Airlines in 2011, the report added.
