Coach operator Eurolines has seen a 30% increase in sales on its London to Paris route. The rise in passengers was recorded throughout August, although figures also increased throughout July at 35%. In addition, the company’s London to Amsterdam route has recorded a 20% growth in travellers and its overall numbers are up 17.8%. The operator has attributed the rise to its ‘upfront low prices’ and the ash cloud, which deterred passengers from air travel. “It’s great that members of the public are making the most of the savings that can be made through coach travel and in due course we’re looking forward to expanding our services further,” said Eurolines President John Gilbert.
