Eurotunnel Group has announced a record year with growth in both its rail and ferry operations.
The French firm saw a 7% increase in revenue to EUR1.2 billion for the year with the number of cars using its services up 4% to 2.57 million.
It said the numbers had been helped along by customer loyalty, terminal refurbishments and a move from 3G to 4G network for mobile services.
Eurostar also improved its performance by 3% with the trend expected to continue into next year when the London-Amsterdam route opens.
However services currently remain slightly delayed as an issue with power continues. Delays and cancellations are still hitting Eurostar nearly a week after the weekend chaos, and some departures for tomorrow have already been cancelled.
Jacques Gounon, chairman and CEO of Groupe Eurotunnel SE said: “Eurotunnel has had a record year in 2014, with a strong growth in all areas of its business. The year of the 20th anniversary of the opening of the Channel Tunnel has been dynamic: Eurotunnel continues to invest to maintain its leadership.”
Traffic also saw an impressive increase on the MyFerryLink services between Dover and Calais. Car, coach and truck traffic numbers are up 7%, 118% and 22% respectively.
Revenue from the ferry services increased from EUR7 million in 2012 to EUR93m in 2014. However Eurotunnel is looking to sell off the ferry business after losing its latest appeal with competition authorities.
