Munich Airport appoints third MD

Munich Airport has appointed Andrea Gebbeken its third managing director alongside Dr. Michael Kerkloh and Thomas Weyer.
Originally from Germany’s Lower Saxony region, Andrea Gebbeken has extensive experience in aviation and logistics, including the post of sole managing director of Tirana Airport in Albania. She joins Munich Airport after serving as the head of north German operations for DB Station und Service AG, the services arm of the German railways.
In that role, Gebbeken (49) was responsible for more than 700 employees and the safe and profitable operation of 560 train stations. Originally from Germany’s Lower Saxony region, Andrea Gebbeken has extensive experience in aviation and logistics, including the post of the CEO of Tirana Airport in Albania.
IHG names new VP for Europe
IHG has appointed Michael Zager vice president, Operations, Continental Europe. Zager will start his new role effective October 1st and report to Stephen McCall, chief operating officer, Europe.
Zager will join the Operations Leadership Team and will be based within IHG’s Frankfurt office to help further strengthen presence and resource in this key market. IHG currently has 657 hotels open in Europe with a further 132 in the pipeline.
A 32-year veteran of the industry, Zager – who started his hotel career as an apprentice in Germany – has worked across multiple disciplines and brands, including several GM appointments. He joins IHG from Wyndham Hotel Group, where his most recent role was Regional Vice President Middle East & Africa in the International Hotel Division.
City Cruises appoints commercial director
Leading River Thames sightseeing operator City Cruises has announced the appointment of Ian Hailes as the new commercial director for the group.
Ian holds over 18 years of experience within the commercial, marketing and product management sectors, working most recently as the head of ski and snowboard, cities and software development at Monarch Travel Group. Prior to this role, Ian worked as the secondment to head of business transformation at the group and the head of mainstream product and commercial. He has a wealth of expertise in developing strategic partnerships, implementing product and commercial strategies and working on high-value projects.
As commercial director at City Cruises, Ian will develop the company’s commercial strategy and manage all commercial aspects of the business.
