Purpose:

 
The successful candidate needs to be a commercially astute, articulate, dynamic, intuitive and an influential financial leader with the ability to operate at a fast-paced strategic and operational level. The CFO will play an integral role in the operational and strategic direction of the company to achieve long-term sustainable results.
 
The role of the CFO is fully accountable for all the financial aspects and systems that will help the company grow in line with our strategies. The CFO is expected to analyze results and implement recommendations based on their findings with the most profitable outcomes.
 
While overseeing the accounting functions and team, the CFO will play a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures to improve and maintain the financial health of the business.
 
The role requires strong leadership by someone that can influence and embrace constant change while continuing to build a dynamic, skilled and professional finance team that takes full accountability.

 
 
Primary duties and responsibilities (KRAs)

1. Commercial Acumen:
Take overall control of the company’s accounting function
Ensure that the company’s financial systems are robust, compliant and support current strategies and future growth
Manage cost control and policies attached to cost control across the company
Treasury and investment management – ensuring that the soundest financial decisions are made in the best interests of the company
Work closely with operational leaders of the business to challenge decisions and help drive better commercial outcomes

2. Financial Reporting & Business Review:
Maintain and develop relevant financial reporting to manage and proactively analyse the business
Reports financial status by developing forecasts, budgets, reporting results, analysing variances and developing improvements
Responsible for overall company wage analysis and review
Strong understanding of modern data requirements to drive automated reporting and improved insights through greater use of BI tools

3. Strategic Planning:
Contribute fully to the development of company strategy across all areas of the business while challenging assumptions
Ensure that the business has profitable, sustainable growth while operating ethically and within the realms of good corporate governance
Ensure the businesses budgeting processes are carried out and reviewed and re-forecasted where necessary

4. Financial Compliance
Ensure the financial integrity of the financial results of FCTG RSA
Ensuring that all Financial Controllers of each pillar are maintaining adequate financial controls and are reporting accurately and promptly
Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met in an effective and timely manner
Risk management and internal control that supports the organization in achieving its objectives
Strong understanding of tax regulations and risks
Understanding BBBEE compliance regulations and guiding the FCTG corporate businesses around scorecard expectations

5. Leadership and Culture
Lead a financial team of 60 people
Able to motivate, inspire and develop
Provide clear direction and vision for the entire finance team
Able to influence decisions to support overall business strategy
Manage vendor relationships
Culturally aligned and able to embrace the FCTG culture and philosophies

Job Requirements

 
Education and qualification:

Minimum requirements

Charted Accountant Degree, CA (SA) and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA)

 
 
 
 
Experience / Criteria:

10+ Years working experience
3+ years in a CFO or Financial Director Role
Experience leading a large finance team
Proven track record with 2-3 suitable references
EE candidate
