The extinction of many prehistoric animals may be due to humans rather than climate change, experts say. The BBC has reported that ancient animals in Tasmania, such as the giant kangaroo and marsupial lion, may have been wiped out by hunting rather than temperature change.
Professor Chris Turney, the lead author on the research paper, said of the findings; “It is sad to know that our ancestors played such a major role in the extinction of these species – and sadder still when we consider that this trend continues today.”
