January 2010 - Minister for Tourism Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum will personally head a key tourism industry mission on a three-city visit to India scheduled to depart to the sub-continent on 01 February.
In what is seen as strong recognition of the potential India represents as a latent source of visitor arrivals for Fiji, the Minister will be accompanied on the five-day mission by Tourism Fiji CEO Josefa Tuamoto and several other senior Fiji industry principals.
The main thrust of the visit is to educate several hundred Indian travel consultants on the potential Fiji offers as a new and alternative destination for their clients and the ease with which they can now reach the destination following the advent of the Air Pacific/Cathay Pacific Hong Kong-Nadi services last December.
The agents’ educational program will take the form of a series of workshops in three of India’s more prosperous cities – Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.
The Minister will personally attend each of the day-long workshops which are scheduled as follows:
01 February Delhi
03 February Bangalore
05 February Mumbai
While in India the Minister, senior Tourism Fiji officials and tourist industry representatives will also meet with key wholesale companies.
Participants in the event thus far include Air Pacific, Rosie Holidays, Tour Managers and Sonaisali Island Resort.
