Finnair load factors improve

Finnair’s scheduled traffic declined in July by nearly 7% in July 2009, and passenger numbers were around 3% lower than in July 2008. However the airline’s successful capacity cuts, totalling nearly 9% of operations, meant that passenger load factor rose to an impressive 81%. Asian traffic declined by nearly 13% and capacity contracted by 17%, thereby increasing the load factor in Asia to nearly 84%. In total, Finnair’s Asian scheduled traffic decreased by 12.8%, measured in revenue passenger kilometres. The number of passengers carried decreased by 15.0% to 106,785.
