Shanghai’s Zendai Group has unveiled the details of the first ever luxury hotel operating under the Himalayas Hotels & Communities brand – Himalayas Qingdao Hotel.
The new property, which will soft-open in March 2014, is located in the coastal Laoshan district of Qingdao, in northeast China’s Shandong province. It has been designed by Hassell Studio Australia, which was also behind the Sydney Olympic Swimming Centre and Chongqing Grand Theatre.
The hotel offers 208 “paperless” rooms and suites, all featuring high-definition LED TVs, iPod docks and complimentary Wi-Fi, while facilities will include a restaurant, bar, a 135m² health club and a spa.
The new property also plans to cater for the MICE market, with 1,000m² of conference and banqueting space comprising a 340m² ballroom and 10 meeting rooms.

Following the Qingdao launch, the Himalayas brand is now set to expand across China, with future openings including the Himalayas Nantong Hotel, Himalayas Watertown Shanghai Resort and Himalayas Nanjing Hotel.
Himalayas Qingdao recently became a member of the Preferred Hotel Group.
