Flight Centre has expanded its presence in India with the acquisition of Travel Tours Group, Australian media has reported.
The Australian Associated Press revealed on Thursday that the company had “acquired the assets” if the India-based agency in an effort to “strengthen its presence in the growing market”.
Travel Tours Group specialises in the leisure travel sector, especially outbound travel to Asia, Europe and the US.
It has a strong presence in southern Indian markets of Bengaluru and Chennai, which, according to Flight Centre’s managing director Graham Turner, will complement his company’s existing offerings in the country’s north and west.
The Indian travel group generated total revenues of AU$150 million (US$114m) in the 2016 financial year, while Flight Centre’s business in the country reached AU$419m.
