Flight Centre Hong Kong is set to become the first travel company to sponsor the Country of Origin Rugby 10s Tournament, which will be hosted later this month by the Hong Kong Cricket Club (HKCC) and the Hong Kong Rugby Football Union.
Flight Centre is partnering with HKCC to throw its support behind the increasingly popular event, which will be held for the 16th successive year on 19 March.
Executive General Manager of Flight Centre Greater China, David Fraser, said; “With its Australian origins, Flight Centre has a strong passion for rugby and we saw this as the perfect opportunity to help further grow youth and club rugby in a city that has always been supportive of our business.”
The tournament will be held in Kings Park on Saturday 19 March from 12.30pm, with the finals taking place from 4pm that afternoon. The event will include the Men’s Open Competition, comprising 10 teams with defending champions Tui New Zealand, Securitas China, Leathwaite England, G4S Hong Kong, Island Junks Scotland, St David’s Society Wales, Australia, France, Ireland and Japan.
For the first time, the tournament will be expanded to include under-14 players, with six teams from China, England, Hong Kong, Australia & South Africa, Scotland & New Zealand, and Wales & France. It will also feature a Women’s Exhibition Game.
“Flight Centre wants to play its part in helping to build the Hong Kong rugby community, and we’re encouraging anyone with a love of the sport – young or old – to join us at the tournament for some top-class action, good seating, and plenty of food and beverages,” Fraser added.
