Six former heads of Japan Airlines (JAL) and its subsidiaries have agreed to have their retirement benefits cut as part of the carrier’s efforts to reduce costs, the Japan Times reported, citing the Kyodo News. JAL is reportedly seeking the return of retirement benefits after it judged that former executives were to blame for the current financial troubles. The airline is thought to have asked around 8,800 retirees for sharp cuts in their pension benefits.
