ABTA has estimated that four million Brits will be travelling overseas this Christmas and New Year period. The association has seen a particular rise in the visiting friends and relatives market, although ski and sun destinations remain popular. Friday 17 and Thursday 23 December are set to be the busiest days and it is expected that more than two million people will fly from BAA airports from 17 December - 2 January. A further 200,000 will travel over or under the English Channel, with 225,000 taking the Eurostar.
