Germany targets Indian tourists

The German National Tourist Office’s (GNTO) India Pool is continuing its with an aggressive strategy to promote the country as a leisure destination for Indians.
Overnight visits by Indians in Germany surged 26.1% year-on-year in the first 11 months of 2010, and to further enhance Destination Germany’s presence in India the tourist office continuing to conduct roadshows in various metros across India.
During the current visit to Chennai and New Delhi, the German delegation will showcase the latest updates, highlights and attraction for Indian travellers. The delegation will run destination training for the travel trade in both cities as well as making personal calls to travel agents and tour operators. This is intended to enable the Indian travel trade to better understand
the Indian market.
Romit Theophilus, Director Marketing and Sales at the GNTO, said; “The marketing and promotional efforts made by the Germany India Pool and GNTO in the past few years are showing constructive results. Furthermore the India Pool initiative has been a major contributor to the increased destination awareness created in the Indian market.”
He added that activities such as workshops, media and trade study trips and corporate presentations will continue in the current year to further consolidate the gains.
The GNTO’s ‘India Pool’ will invest more than EUR200,000 (INR123.5 lakh) in joint marketing activities with select tour operators to further promote leisure holidays in Germany.
