A 3.4-metre-long squid has been found washed ashore on the coast of Niigata, Japan, the Japan Times has reported, citing a local aquarium. Judging by creature’s size and the shape of its fins, the beast is though to be a giant squid, one of the world’s largest invertebrate animals, according to the Niigata City Aquarium. The squid weighs about 109 kg and its trunk alone is about 1.7 metres long, the aquarium said.
