The Spanish government announced that it officially approved a new digital nomad visa dedicated to remote workers. Previously it was reported that Spain unfolded plans to introduce the digital nomad visa in January this year, as part of the Start-Up act which was also set to pass in January this year. As informed by a news report in Schengen Visa.
The minimum requirement for this kind of visa will be between €2,000 (approx.USD 2,147.02 ) and €3,000 (approx.USD 3,220.53 ) monthly, according to a Business Insider report.
Spain’s government previously announced that the Startup Law intends to eliminate bureaucratic obstacles as well as tax incentives, thus facilitating the procedures in order to encourage the creation and investment in emerging technology-based companies.
The Digital Nomad Visa of Spain among others attempts to attract a large number of international talents. In November, the Spanish Parliament approved new changes for start-ups and digital nomads as part of efforts to reduce Corporation Tax for these categories from 25 per cent to 15 per cent in the first four years of their stay in Spain.
“The Startup Law is one of the major commitments of this legislature and is part of the set of reforms to improve the country’s business climate, along with the Create and Grow Law and the Bankruptcy Law, approved this year,” the statement of Spain’s Ministry of Economic Affairs and Digital Transformation pointed out.
The same Ministry considered that it was among the most important milestones for last year’s agenda, within the Digital Spain 2026, the roadmap for the digitalization plan that the country is carrying out.
The spread of the Coronavirus and its new variants led a large number of people to turn their eyes to remote work. In addition, a survey provided previously by Two Tickets to Anywhere noted that there are around 35 million digital nomads in countries worldwide, with the United States as the favourite destination for remote work.
