Police in Goa are cracking down on drugs in an attempt to improve the Indian state’s reputation, The Telegraph has reported. Under new laws, beach hut owners will be held responsible for the sale and consumption of drugs on their premises. Police have also warned against playing loud music after midnight and to stick to licensing laws. The moves come following a series of incidents in the resort including the murder of UK teenager Scarlett Keeling last year.
