State officials in Goa have approached the External Affairs Ministry, pressing them to change visa formalities which they say are driving down the volume of foreign visitor arrivals to the region. It currently takes three weeks to process a visa application, which is a massive headache for potential visitors who could easily be attracted by other destinations. As a result they have requested this period be cut to at least ten days. The Travel and Tourism Association of Goa has requested the matter be urgently addressed after charter flights from Poland delayed their flights by one and half months and seven flights were cancelled costing the state revenues from 1,500 tourists.
