Goa to launch global tourism ad blitz

Go Goa! It has “beaches, sun and lotsa fun!” That catchphrase of a 30-second tourism advertisement will beam Goa into millions of homes worldwide starting today, Times of India reported.Goa tourism is set to launch its nine-week long media blitz on Travel Channel International with tourism ads in eight languages including Russian, Polish, Hungarian and Bulgarian. Indian film actress Mahima Chaudary, Miss Russia 2009 Svetlana Stepankovskaya and Miss India 2010 finalist Alisha Pekha will feature in the commercials showcasing Goa’s beaches, heritage sites, the night market and other popular tourist spots.In a presentation to the media, tourism director Swapnil Naik reportedly said the ads would take Goa tourism into 58.4 million homes across 104 countries in Europe and Africa. The ads will also be telecast in Asia and the Middle East.The ad campaign will cost the tourism department 2 crore from its annual budget of 13 crore.Even more interesting than the international ads could be the ads aimed at the domestic market.
