Golden Tulips to bloom in Asia

At a press conference in Bangkok, the group’s President and CEO Hans Kennedie said the US$600-800 million investment will see the introduction of three brands across the region – the economy-business Tulip Inn, the upscale Golden Tulip, and the luxury Royal Tulip properties.
In the first phase of development, the European chain confirmed the acquisition of five properties in Thailand and Cambodia; the 100-room Golden Tulip Resort Samui will start the ball rolling, opening in July 2008.
Next year, the 170-room Tulip Inn Phnom Penh is set to open in May while the140-room Tulip Inn Sukhumvit, Bangkok and the 110-room Tulip Inn Patong, Phuket will open in July.
The 350-room Golden Tulip Hotel & Suites Riverside Bangkok in set to be ready in 2010. Other projects in development include the Tulip Inn Suvarnabhumi Hotel & Conference Centre, the Golden Tulip Resort Phuket and the Tulip Inn Sathorn, Bangkok.
A further 40 properties are also planned throughout Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia.
