Government to award contracts on five road projects

An announcement from the Transport and Highways Ministry this week state that the government intends to award contracts on five mega road projects worth a combined total of INR15,000 crore by March next year. The Ministry did not offer further details on the project, but according to PTI reports, the National Highways Authority of India has invited bids on a 570km road project from Kishangarh near Jaipur to Ahmedabad via Udaipur. This is a step towards completing the National Highways Development Programme which outlines the planned construction of a 35,000km road network in the next five years.
