After outgrowing their first shop, Grasshopper Adventures, operator of Bangkok’s best bike tours, have moved to a new location in the Khao San Rd area.
Last year saw Grasshopper Adventures open their first Bangkok shop and now just over 12 months later they have moved. The original shop became too small very quickly so the move was long overdue.
Grasshopper is still located in the same area, just around the corner from the famous backpacker street Khao San Rd, but the new location, 100 metres from the Democracy Monument is 10 times bigger and importantly, much easier to find as many customers travel by taxi and were getting lost on the small back streets of the former location.
After switching from outsourcing to in-house operations, Grasshopper Adventures’ reputation as a day tour operator has grown quickly. Tripadvisor.com, a website that rates tourism sights and operations based on traveller reviews, had Grasshopper Adventures rated as the number one thing to do in Bangkok (as at Jan 2010). Customer numbers increased by four times in 2009 despite the economic downturn and into this year are still rising despite this year’s protests in Bangkok.
The tours themselves remain unchanged and still use real imported mountain bikes and helmets are supplied for safety. The Grasshopper guides are also the same – no turnover of staff meaning the quality of the tours remain high and consistent.
