The Hayman resort on Australia’s Great Barrier Reef has reopened after a five-month forced closure. The island resort is welcoming visitors again after the completion of restoration and repair work necessitated by Tropical Cyclones Anthony and Yasi earlier in the year.
Hayman will relaunch with brand new eight Beach Villas, new restaurants, new activities and adventures, as well as a new garden landscape. The new Beach Villas each have a large private pool, a private terrace and outdoor shower, and a vast bathroom. Villa guests receive a dedicated Butler service and exclusive dining experiences including chefs’ tasting menus. New restaurant concepts have been introduced. These include the beachfront Azure and the Fontaine restaurant which presents contemporary Australian cuisine and the best of Australian wines. The Oriental and La Trattoria restaurants also make their return.
The Hayman Activities hub has been upgraded, featuring new floodlit tennis courts, squash courts, a basketball court, golf putting green and driving range, and a fitness centre. The Hayman Spa menu has also had a makeover, now offering refreshed therapies. Yachts, cruisers, seaplanes and helicopters will continue to take guests on reef adventures with fishing, coral viewing from underwater vessels, plus diving and snorkelling.
A new 16-hectare botanical garden has also been developed, containing 327 new plant species, native birds, butterflies and other wildlife.
