Great Indian Travel Bazaar scheduled for April 2011

The fourth edition of the Great Indian Travel Bazaar (GITB) will be held in Jaipur at the B M Birla Convention Centre 17-19 April. The event is organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with the Department of Tourism, the Government of Rajasthan and the Ministry of Tourism, and the Indian Government. Several agents, hotels and States are supporting GITB 2011, including The Lalit, The Oberoi, The Leela, Mansingh Group, LPTI, Creative Travel, Maharashtra Tourism and Jammmu and Kashmir Tourism. Already, 160 foreign buyers and 90 Indian sellers have confirmed their participation, as of November 15. Rahul Chakravarty, Additional Director of the FICCI , said that the core strength of the event was the B2B prefixed, structured meetings between buyers and sellers. For the first time this year, the hosted buyers will have to make a deposit of US$300 (INR13,590), which will be refunded after they complete all the meetings scheduled with the sellers. The GITB is a PPP event, with the Centre and State governments, the FICCI, agents and hotels contributing to the event, which costs about INR300 lakh. Rajasthan will use the opportunity to promote the new destinations and products developed, said Rekha Gupta and Anand Tripathi from Rajasthan’s Department of Tourism.
