They say the best time to travel is when you are young, but data from travel specialist Netflights.com has revealed that the over-50s are leading the way when it comes to exploring new destinations every year.
Netflights.com booking data from the past five years has revealed that 63% of the over 50s age group visit different destinations in comparison to 66% of the under 35s who travel to the same places, whilst 29-and-a-half is the average age many Brits start to travel back to the same destinations.
Alistair Nash from Netflights.com said: “When it comes to the older generation, we’ve seen a trend in these customers choose different locations to go to every year, building up their air miles and travelling the world whilst their kids have either moved out, or gone to university, really making the most of their free time.
“In comparison, we’ve found that our younger customers like to go to the same destinations, with the main reasons being that they know they like it, the location is familiar to them, and a lot of that is down to the point of life they are at, with many in the midst of family life and raising children, or simply down to the fact they know what they’ll be getting.
“However, going to the same destination doesn’t mean having a boring holiday, as there are a number of different activities travellers old and young can undertake that will allow them to have a different experience every time.”
Top 10 destinations customers are returning to include:
New York
Florida
Nevada
Dubai
Bangkok
Hong Kong
Singapore
New South Wales
Phuket
Barbados
