The hillside temple town of Ambaji, in India’s Gujarat state, will get a makeover in an effort to turn it into a tourist hot spot, The Times of India has reported. Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Limited (TCGL) plans to offer visitors the chance to experience traditional village life, from the comfort of modern huts. The INR230 million (US$4.9 million) scheme will also develop walking routes in the surrounding hillsides, the report added. It is expected to be completed by 2011.
