Gulf Air recently inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bahrain Polytechnic to provide tertiary education institute’s Information Technology students and graduates an opportunity to perform final year industry projects.
Subsequently, these students can also obtain industry experience in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) at the airline’s Information Technology Department.
Bahrain Polytechnic students can now enroll in internships, receive on-the-job training and conduct industrial visits related to field of study – integrating academic education with practical application.
Dr Jassim Haji, Gulf Air director information technology said: “The field of information technology is fast paced and ever-changing, resulting frequently in critical gaps between academic studies of this field and what is actually being practiced in the workplace. With this training programme, Polytechnic students will gain real-life experiences at Gulf Air in a broad range of ICT projects.”
The airline provides comprehensive training for Bahrainis and puts great emphasis on nationalization – recording 64% Bahrainisation in 2014.
