Hawaiian Holdings Inc, the parent company of Hawaiian Airlines, has reported net income for the first three months of 2009 of US$23.5 million. This result compares to a net loss of US$19.9 million in the corresponding period last year.
“Our first quarter financial performance was good in absolute terms and notably better than that of most of our competitors,” said Mark Dunkerley, the company’s President and CEO. “The benefits of a significant decline in the price of fuel more than offset the consequences of weaker demand for Hawaii.”
