The proposed 93-storey Mega Tower planned for Hong Kong will have its height cut by 38 storeys as developers seek to speed up the project, the South China Morning Post has reported.
Fourteen years after the project was first approved, it has shrunk to 55 storeys, making it shorter than the nearby Hopewell Centre, which, at 60 storeys, was once Hong Kong’s tallest building.
Despite the reduction, the 1,024-room hotel planned for the tower is expected to become the biggest on Hong Kong Island. It will also have conference facilities able to cater for 1,000 delegates, the report added. Hilton is reported to be in talks about managing the hotel.
The project is expected to be finished in 2015.
