On June 11, a 17-person cable car cabin snapped loose and tumbled 13 storeys to the ground. Though other cars were occupied, the ill-fated cabin was vacant and nobody was hurt. Service on the Skyrail was immediately suspended.
HKTB stated it immediately halted all overseas promotions, ordering its offices to suspend all advertising in all Ngong Ping 360 markets
Domestically, it is posting notices at HKTB Visitor Information & Services Centres notifying tourists of the temporary shutdown, and will begin posting labels concerning the suspension in its publications.
HKTB also said it had arranged for its staff to manually remove references to Ngong Ping 360. A look at HKTB’s consumer website (www.discoverhongkong.com) shows no reference to the attraction.
However, www.np360.com.hk, the park’s home page hasn’t changed. The Skyrail page remains the same, save a small notice, which says, “Ngong Ping 360 Cable Car Service is suspended from 12 June 2007 until further notice. The Themed Village remains opened as normal
