Holidays 4 UK goes bust

Package holiday company, Holidays 4 UK Ltd has gone into administration. The Brighton-based company, which specialised in holidays to Turkey, announced yesterday that it had ceased trading as it was unable to meet its liabilities. More than 12,500 holidaymakers have been left stranded abroad, while an estimated 20,000 people are believed to have forward bookings with the company, which also traded as Holidays 4U and Aegean Flights.
ABTA said that the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) is making arrangements to repatriate customers stuck overseas, and to ensure that holidaymakers are able to stay in their accommodation until they are due to return home. It also confirmed that all forward holiday bookings have now been cancelled.
Consumer rights group Which?, said that customers who had booked flights or packages would be able to claim refunds under the Air Travel Organisers’ Licensing (ATOL) scheme. Those who booked accommodation separately however, would not be so lucky.
“If you have booked a genuine package holiday with Holidays4U then you should be financially protected,” said Rochelle Turner, Head of Research for Which?. “Unfortunately anyone who booked their accommodation separately won’t be so lucky. You should speak to your accommodation provider to see if you can get your money back or re-book for another time, or check to see if these costs are covered by your travel insurance,” she added.
