UK holidaymakers are still travelling to Thailand despite the heavy rain and flooding in some areas of the country. Premier Holidays has continued to send Brits to the destination although reports from Thailand say that others are stranded. “We have an office in Bangkok and our area manager there is already contacting affected clients to see how they are and assist them if they need to move,” said Susan Papworth, managing director at Premier Holidays. “We are monitoring the situation on an hourly basis and keeping a close eye on the weather patterns for clients due to travel. So far, people are still travelling to Thailand and we have not been asked to change any existing bookings.” Samui International Airport reopened today after heavy rains and floods forced the hub to close on Monday and Tuesday. Bangkok Airways told Travel Daily earlier today that conditions on the island were still unsuitable for flight departures, although Firefly has now resumed its schedule. Bangkok Airways was forced to cancel some 60 flights yesterday, while more than 2,000 people remain stranded on the flood-hit island. One passenger stuck at Samui airport, Sam Hoys, said on Facebook that conditions had continued to be severe, with “heavy winds and no visibility”.
