Hong Kong International Airport is expected to receive 50 million passengers annually, its chief executive Stanley Hui Hon-chung was quoted saying.
The airport handled about 4.03 million passengers in November, up 10% from a year ago, The Standard reported.
“If the current growth rate prevails, annual passenger volume will soon reach 50 million,” Hui was quoted saying.
An Airport Authority spokesman said: “The target is not for this year or next year. We will not give a time frame. But it will be achieved soon.”
For the first 11 months of this year, total passenger throughput was 43.5 million. For the whole of last year, it was 44.4 million.
The airport is the world’s fifth busiest international passenger airport.
