Hostelworld.com to host Asia Hostel Conference

Hostelworld.com is set to host its first Asian conference this month in Shanghai. The inaugural conference, held on 29 and 30 June, will discuss themes such as emerging markets, ratings and reviews. Representatives from Go2eu.com, Daodao.com and Lonely Planet will all be present. “The Asian region is extremely important to Hostelworld.com, representing a growing and emerging market both in terms of customer demand and as a destination for travellers,” explained Hostelworld.com CEO Feargal Mooney. “We’ve experienced a significant rise in both so far this year with bookings into Asia up by over 34% and outbound bookings from Asia up 20%. Cities which have been particular include Chiang Mai, Kuala Lumpur, Siem Reap, Taipei and Xi’an with South Koreans growing considerably as a nation of travellers up by 60%”.
