International online hotel booking portal Hotels.com has set out an aggressive marketing initiative to enhance its presence in India by tripling its marketing budget to approximately INR25 crore for 2011. The budget will be used to launch several promotions through the year in a marketing campaign that reflects that of Hotel.com’s parent company Expedia, which has also tripled its marketing budget. The company currently regards India as an investment market and for this reason, all earnings are being reinvested to strengthen Hotel.com’s foothold in the market.
Hotels.com Asia-Pacific Marketing Director Abhiram Chowdhry told PTI the company will soon launch multi-media advertising and promotional campaigns to promote its brand in India, with a focus on both conventional media and digital platforms, including social networking sites like Facebook. We have a Facebook page which can also be used by users for making hotel bookings. Similarly we are about to launch mobile applications for iPhones and android phones to enable users to make bookings directly from handheld devices.”
